Sugar plant, Japan's proud originators of indie-pop and dream-pop, are releasing their 1998 masterpiece 'happy', remastered for the first time!

Indie, acoustic, post-rock, ambient, deep house, Sugar Plant has been spinning genre-defying sounds since the 1990s. He currently has more than 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify at any one time, and his reputation is growing again in the US and abroad. The last few years have seen a re-evaluation of the shoegaze sound, including the revival of Slowdive and Mazzy Star, as well as a quiet Japanese response to the mellow grooves of Khruangbin, Bonobo, Cigarettes After Sex and others.

This reissue is a remastered version of the 1998 release 'happy', which is renowned as a masterpiece, with a sound that has increased resolution and depth. A remix of 'rise' by a French ambient artist is included as a bonus track.

The mastering was done by Soichiro Nakamura, the engineer for Shintaro Sakamoto and Ogre You Asshole. Sugar Plant will be releasing their first new material in a long time this spring, so look forward to it.
